Of particular concern for us are the promotion of womens' careers as well as the implementation of equal opportunity employment. The Department of Computer Science and its affiliated institutions provide a range of events and other offers in this regard.

PromotionsCafé

At the “PromotionsCafé” topics and questions are discussed that go beyond the “regular” academic sphere, namely matters such as career planning, career prospects, gender issues and more.

Doctoral candidates are invited to attend in particular, but the events are open to everyone interested.

The current dates are available at the link below.

go4IT! – Robot Workshop for Female Pupils

Logo go4IT!

go4IT! is a perfect complement to the offers provided for pupils at school. Twelve to fourteen female 6th and 7th graders have the opportunity to participate in a two-day robot workshop free of charge. This is organized by the RWTH Aachen Department of Computer Science but takes place at their own school. Highlight of the workshop is the presentation of the joint group project on the second day; this is when all the groups' different robots complete synchronized motion sequences that have been coordinated beforehand.

Girls' Day

Logo Girls' Day

During Girls’ Day, girls from 5th to 10th grade have the opportunity to see what a typical work day looks like for a computer scientist. In workshops, exciting topics from the field of computer science are dealt with by first learning about the theoretical background and then applying that knowledge in a real-world context. A tour of the IT-center, a demo related to current research, as well as a visit with a professor round out the day.
