FAQ Library Usage
What are the library access rules?
Please wear a mask throughout the library and support the RWTH campaign "We are still wearing our masks".
If you have symptoms of Covid 19 disease, you will not be allowed to enter the library.
Can I borrow media?
We are a reference library. Borrowing media is therefore only possible to a limited extent. Books can be borrowed one hour before the library closes. The loan period ends at 10 a.m. on the next opening day.
How do I drop off a copy of my dissertation?
You can arrange a deadline by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or send the dissertation to us by regular mail.
Please enclose a short letter with your email address and telephone number so that we can contact you if we have any questions. We are pleased to send the " Certificate of Submission" directly to the doctoral office. If you wish to do so, please let us know.
Are there literature research training sessions?
We offer literature research training sessions for participants in pro-seminars. Dates will be announced during the pro-seminar.
Can I come to the library to study?
Yes, you can come to the library to study.
What study spaces are available?
Rooms 4001 and 4007 are completely reserved for literature research training sessions. The children's room (4002) is only available for students with a child. The large reading room (4004), the beanbag room (4006) and the reading garden are open. There are currently 30 study spaces in the library and 18 in the reading garden.
How long can I use the learning space?
You can use the learning space during the complete opening time - leaving the place for a short break is allowed. If you leave the library for more than 30 minutes, you must vacate your study space.
Can I choose a seat?
You can choose a free seat. Please note that moving tables and chairs is not allowed.
Can I leave the library in the meantime?
Leaving your seat for a short break is allowed. If you leave the library for more than 30 minutes, you must vacate your study space and the day locker. Please return the locker key to the information desk and let us know which space you‘ve used so we can prepare it for the next use.
