Computer Science at RWTH Aachen delivers top-notch research and education: for years now, we have been achieving top positions in renowned university rankings, as is attested by the Ranking Reports by RWTH Aachen. These reports provide an overview of the results achieved by the different disciplines in several university rankings since 2006.
The Ranking Report is created as part of the quality management i teaching and learning and issued by RWTH's Controlling and Information Management division.

In 2023, the Computer Science department moved up 2 places to ranking 50, maintaining its 2nd place in Germany. The Department of Computer Science was ranket 52th in the 2022 ranking, following Munich (14th) and followed by Karlsruhe (63th). In 2020, the Department of Computer Science was ranked 46th, following Munich (18th) and followed by Karlsruhe (50th). |

CEWS Ranking 2023: RWTH takes first place within TU9 and Excellence Universities.
In June 2023, the Center of Excellence Women and Science published the latest edition of the university ranking according to gender equality aspects. CEWS produces three rankings for this purpose every two years, one each for universities, universities of applied sciences & administrative colleges, and arts colleges.
QS World University Rankings 2023: TheRWTH climbs 41 places compared to 2022 to world rank 106.
This year's QS ranking was also published in June. Alongside the THE ranking, it is the most important international university ranking. 45% of the ranking is based on the results of a reputation survey among academics and employers, while the other 55% results from, among other things
from the number of international students and staff, the supervision ratio, the international research network, sustainability, and the number of citations.
Leiden Ranking 2023: Straight international comparison, 12 of 14 categories could be improved in our research area "Mathematics and computer science".
The Centre for Science and Technology Studies at Leiden University published the current Leiden Ranking, in which universities are ranked according to their publication performance. A variety of different rankings are produced for the university as a whole and for five individual scientific fields, each based on the impact of publications, collaboration with other institutions, open access, and gender of authors. Only English-language publications published in journals with international reach are considered.
THE Impact Rankings 2023: In the overall ranking, RWTH is ranked second in Germany, together with the University of Konstanz.
THE Impact Rankings 2023 is a university ranking that evaluates universities against the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). RWTH participated in THE Impact Rankings for the first time this year.
DAAD sponsored: The German Academic Exchange Service publishes annual rankings in which German universities are ranked according to the number of people funded by the DAAD . This includes both students as well as funded scientists and scholars.
