Practical Computer Science: High-Performance Computing

The Chair for Computer Science 12 offers students enrolled in Computer Science the specialisation High-Performance Computing. Broadly speaking, this field is concerned with the reduction of complexity by exploiting the structure inherent to a given problem or employing parallel algorithms.

Relevant Lectures

Lectures held by Paolo Bientinesi, Torsten Kuhlen and Felix Wolf are also relevant.

The lecture »Introduction to High-Performance Computing« is the introductory course setting the stage for all other courses. The website of the Chair for Computer Science 12 offers a complete list of lectures relevant for the specialisation. A certificate (Übungsschein) is offered for all those lectures to which excercises are associated. A certificate usually implies an active participation in the exercises. If required, certificates for attending a lecture (without an exercise) are offered.

Labs offered

The websites of the Chair for Computer Science 12 and its associated research group offer a list of labs currently offered.

Certificates

Two certificates are required to take the oral examination:

In particular cases, certificates of other institutes are also accepted.
Examinations in the specialisation High-Performance Computing are offered by: Bischof, Bücker, Naumann.
